Brickwork

This is the just one of the milder examples of shoddy workmanship that can be seen on a house currently under construction in South Perth. This is the external wall of the garage, but the actual house is full of these 'anomalies' as well. I think I'll be avoiding this builder.

It's not very evident in the picture, but you can in fact see clear through the gap in the brickwork. It's about three fingers wide. That's just one gap. All the mortar is swiss cheese.

my sister in law was getting a house built in Perth and called me to have a look at the brickwork. It was the worst I've ever seen, gaps through walls, bricks not matching, walls that wobbled (one fell over when we touched it), and no straight lines at all.

She had to threaten them with legal action before they would fix it, and they ended up bulldozing the house and starting again.

Gotta watch those builders.

The housing boom has allowed some backyard cowboys to gain a foothold unfortunately. There are quite a few houses going up in South Perth and all of the ones I've seen except this one have been okay. This one is just a fucking disgrace.
