Which bank?

Do you remember the name of the bank that used to 'live here'? Yes, we all know that it was privatised and sold off to the Scots years ago, but there's still a part of me that feels that if they're going to keep the 'West' in their name then they should at least show some sense of loyalty: like filming their commercials here. Just when did we get the light-blue buses that you can see in the 'we're not gonna take it' commercial?

I once belonged to the Rural & Industries Bank of Western Australia, a respectable bank with a respectable name.

Then my respected bank had one fot hose committee meetings. You know how camels were invented? A committee was formed to build a horse...

The committee then sat down and thought about a spiffy new name for their (my!) bank. "Bankwest!" said one of the members, and everyone applauded. (All except for Reverend Spooner, who thought about it for a full minute before he figured what the hell, and raised his hand too.)

So suddenly I was putting my money into Wankbest, withdrawing money at a wankbranch or handywank. And for some reason I still stayed with them...

And then - the final straw - they were sold to some Scotsman and suddenly, being with a McWankbest got to be a bit much... %)

The ads could be like that coz they're trying desparately to pick up customers on the east coast (some devious scheme for world domination, or something). That said, I imagine having "West" in your name will do more damage among Sydney types than showing their buses on TV will help!

P.S. The bizarro ad in the paper today reminded me of the fun you and TP are having. Joob seems so cute to those of us who don't have to feed him :-)

Ted: agreed 100%.

Azza: we don't get the rag. Can you explain the ad?

You already found it, but lest I be accused of not being thorough: www.play2upnow.com.au

Oh, and about R&I / BankWest: I dare say it all started going downhill when they went and bought the Bondy tower ...

Thought so. Thanks.
